The Sprayberry Jr. Jackets are proud members of the Georgia Middle School Athletic Association (GMSAA), which was founded originally as the North Georgia Football League (NGFL), and changed its name in 2010. The organization currently has 39 member programs (fielding 117 teams with about 700 coaches and 3,500 players overall) from Cherokee, Cobb, Floyd, Forsyth, and Fulton Counties. The GMSAA is a highly competitive league (e.g., there are no restrictions on weight and no requirements to play all players) that features some of the best middle school athletes in the country.
The GMSAA began play in 1992 with separate 7th and 8th Grade teams representing their respective zoned High Schools as "Junior" programs. The association expanded in 2005 to include 6th Grade teams (with 5th Graders eligible for play).
^ REQUIRED for REGISTRATION
The GMSAA football rules and procedures are based on those established by the Georgia High School Association (GHSA) and the National Federation of State High School Associations (NFHS) for 11-player competitions.
