From The ECHO (Spring 1986):
"The Varsity Yellow Jackets had a very exciting season during the 1985-86 school year.
The Jackets started by defeating their archrival Lassiter by 35 to 18. This ignited Sprayberry with football fever.
Next came a win over Walton and a tie with Central Gwinnett. This was followed by a win over Paulding County.
Their first loss was to Douglas County, but Sprayberry came back with a win over Wheeler.
McEachern defeated the Jackets by only one point, but the Jackets fired themselves up to win Sprayberry's Homecoming game [over Peeblebrook] for the first time in over ten years.
Playoff hopes were crushed when the Jackets suffered a loss to Campbell, but a 40 to 13 victory over Etowah helped ease the pain.
All in all, the Jackets experienced an exciting up and down season."
