From The ECHO (Spring 2008):
"The smell of freshly cut grass, the sound of sting getting louder and louder, and the sight of the team crashing through the 20-foot banner is enough to make the crowd jump to its feet and cheer the team to victory.
The players proved to be more than just a team as they went on to the 5-AAAAA State Playoffs this year [2007]. They have grown closer from spring training, to two-a-days, and to the team meals just before the games. Their dedication is overwhelmingly evident in their success on the field.
Not only has the team grown for the better, it has experienced many changes such as new Seniors, new teammates, and new Head Coach Billy Shackelford. Known to the school as 'Coach Shack,' he has led the entire team into a new direction. Pep rallies aren't complete without him leading the cheers. Football is always a driving force in any school, and this year the team has instilled pride and a sense of school spirit in the entire student body. Way to go, Jackets!!!"
