From The ECHO (Spring 1985):
"This year has been a long, but profitable building year. Our team mainly consisted of Juniors. They played hard and refused to die. The odds were against us, however. The team was plagued with injuries.
This year they established a firm groundwork for next year. Everyone was looking forward to next year, when most of the players will be Seniors. The other teams in the Region would be in the process of rebuilding their teams, while Sprayberry would already be prepared. Sprayberry's Coach, John Paty, says he did not get the year he expected, but he thinks the players will capture a Region Title next year.
Our Senior football players will be missed very much next year because their experience and guidance was very much needed. The staff and the school wished them good luck in the coming years."
