From The ECHO (Spring 1992):
"The Sprayberry Varsity Football Team ended the year with 5 wins and 5 losses, which was an exciting change from the 1990 season. From many students' viewpoint, 'It wasn't boring to go watch Sprayberry this year.'
The new coaching staff consists of Head Coach Ray Broadaway, linebacker Coach Gerald Barge, offensive line Coach Rego Rue, defensive back Coach Chester Ransom, and Defensive Coordinator Ronnie White.
On Friday night, August 30, Sprayberry Varsity players prepared to battle our rival, Lassiter. Sprayberry fought their way to a spectacular win of 22 to 13. David Thomas stated, 'At first it was hard, playing low-key as the coaching staff wanted, but as they year went on, the team got a little better at it, and Coach [Broadaway] gave us more freedom. All in all, I had a lot of fun.'
When Senior Scott McGhee was asked one thing he would like to say to all players and fans, he replied, 'We played hard, we played long, and now our times are gone. I enjoyed our season, and hated to see it end, but it is time to move on.'
Coach Bradaway stated, ' Even though we didn't make the playoffs, we learned a lot about ourselves and we learned the importance of finishing strong.'
Junior Trevor Barnett commented, "We had a great beginning season, but had some mid-season setbacks. We came back to finish strong. This season will set a precedent for all others to come. We'll be back and better than ever.'
This is what every Sprayberry High School student would like to see for the 1992 season."
